As part of one of Google’s smaller announcements today was a new service called Hands-Free Payments. Not to be confused w/ Android Pay which became official yesterday, this is a separate service. So how will Google make hands-free payments actually work within retailers w/o taking your phone out of your pocket or purse? It will rely on geo-fencing to confirm your identity that matches you w/ your device.
First Look: Android Pay
Hands-Free won’t be a part of Android Pay at launch but it could be eventually. If it actually works well, it would be a little silly for them not to do so. The service will be kicking off as a beta preview in the San Francisco Bay area McDonald’s & Papa John’s later this year.
