iPhone 5 lightingSurprisingly enough, there were a lot of wireless earbuds being shown off & unveiled at CES last week.  Is the industry, trying to subtly tell us something?  According to the latest report from the folks over at 9to5Mac, yes they are.  Specifically, Apple.

Don’t look for a headphone jack on your next iPhone.

Their report suggests that Apple is working on a premium set of wireless Beats earbuds that will be unveiled alongside the iPhone 7.  It will include a noise-cancelling mic system that will make it easy for users to utilize Siri & your iPhone hands-free.  The design is set to resemble that of the Motorola Hint where they’re charged in a carrying case.  These won’t be the ones that ship w/ your new iPhone.  You can expect a new pair of EarPods that plug directly into the Lightning port.  Apple definitely appears to be killing the headphone jack and making the Lightning port their all-in-one port.

So expect a mix of Bluetooth & Lightning port-enabled headphones to become available for the iPhone 7.  We expect to see the new iPhone be unveiled sometime in September while rumors suggest a smaller, 4inch iPhone 6C arriving in March w/ the Apple Watch 2.

Thoughts on Apple using the Lightning port for their all-in-one port from here on out?
