Yesterday, we got even more details on what to expect from this year’s Moto X devices (yes, as in plural). The folks over at Venture Beat reported on 2 new big things: modular accessories and 2 different versions of the Moto X.
Maybe Motorola might do a better job w/ the modular add-ons.
In regards to the add-ons, Motorola might utilize this in the form of modular backplates. When added, the camera bump will sit flush w/ it. They will be called ‘Amps’ and reports already claims that 6 are in the works. Amps for stereo speakers, extended battery pack, a camera grip w/ flash + optical zoom, and a pico projector to name a few. Now we know what the 16-connectors in the back are for.
In regards to 2 versions of the device, there will be a Vertex and a Vector Thin. The Vertex will be a standard 5.5inch 1080p display, powered by quad-core Snapdragon 625 CPU, choice of 2GB of RAM/16GB storage or 3GB of RAM/32GB storage, 13MP camera w/ laser auto-focus + OIS, and a 3500 mAh battery in a 7mm thick frame. While the Vector Thin will be the higher end model. It has a 5.5inch QHD AMOLED display, Snapdragon 820 CPU, 3GB/4GB of RAM + 32GB internal storage, 16MP camera w/ laser-assisted + phase detection auto-focus, and a 2600 mAh battery in a 5.2mm thick frame.
One would assume that the Vertex model would more than likely be re-branded as the one of the Droid devices for later this year. Droid-Life reports that they will be announced at Lenovo’s Tech World 16 conference happening in June.
