Remember YouTube Music? Yeah, no one does. Whatever the case, it just got a revamp that will make it more memorable as it will soft-launch this upcoming Tuesday. It will transform into YouTube Music Premium as the new music streaming service w/ ads for free and w/o for $10 per month.
So what’s new w/ YouTube Music? For starters, we get a new mobile app & desktop player as well as combine all of the official versions of songs w/ related playlists, remixes, covers, live versions, music videos, etc. It will utilize Google Assistant AI for song discovery & deeper personalization by pulling suggestions from your YouTube history, location, and activity as Google wants music discovery to be at the forefront of the app.
For the $10 per month, you get the options of downloads, background listening, and ad-free listening experience. If you’re like me and are a Google Play Music subscriber, you’ll continue to get access to YouTube Music Premium for free. Apparently, Play Music isn’t going anywhere but if this takes off, it’s only a matter of time before that service gets shuffled into this one. Anyone interested can sign up for it here.
In regards to the visual side of YouTube, YouTube Red will become YouTube Premium. This will now cost you $12 per month as it will include Music Premium service as well as access to their original content. Speaking of their original content, that will now expand w/ more movies & series w/ content from the UK, Germany, France, Mexico, & other countries. With Premium, you’ll be able to retain the ad-free YouTube experience you can play videos in the background or download them offline.
YouTube Premium is rolling out “soon” in existing markets & expanding to countries like Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Russia in the near future. Good news, if you’re a current Red subscriber, you won’t need to shell up the extra $2. You can still sign up for Red at the $10 monthly price point before it transitions next week to save some $.
So if you want to watch Cobra Kai season 2 when it comes, you should sign up now to save $2 monthly.
