Last week, we told ya’ll about the new plans for YouTube in the form of YT Premium & YT Music Premium. Many Google Play Music subscribers were hoping that we wouldn’t be affected by the price change. Well, someone asked the YouTube team on Twitter about it and we have a concrete answer.
If you’re a Play Music subscriber (whether day one users at $7.99 per month or later for $9.99 per month), your monthly pricing for won’t change for it as you will still have access to both YT Music Premium & Premium. The pricing for everyone else who ain’t down w/ Play Music, will have to pay $2 extra to access it. Especially for content like Cobra Kai.
We’re still not sure about the future of Google Play Music as we presume that it will fold into YT Music Premium – if it makes it.
Current YouTube Red (soon to be YouTube Premium) and Google Play Music members will continue to get the features they already enjoy at the same price they pay now. If this ever changes, we’ll make sure to give you a heads up. https://t.co/07Rw9hLefX
