Today, Google just dropped a dedicated podcast app of their own w/ Google Podcasts. The look is reminiscent of the new Google News app w/ its minimalist approach to it.
You can download episodes and will be removed in a time-based limit. You will be able to play an episode on one device and pick up on another device. It actually syncs across devices via Google Assistant. So you can enjoy episodes via Google Home products/Google Assistant-powered speakers as well. Did we mention that the app is free?
In case you wondering why the need for this app? Podcasts currently live within the Google Play Music app but w/ the whole YouTube Premium thing, it will now have a limited shelf life. So Google Podcasts will be the future home for those of you who want to listen to podcasts on your Android device.
The app is available right now for Android but no indication that it’s coming to iOS.
