We all know that Google has done an amazing job w/ the cameras on their Pixel smartphones.  But there’s always room for improvement in many areas.  One area is said to get improved is the Camera app itself.

According to the folks over at Android Police & confirmed by Google’s team, the Pixel camera app will soon work w/ external mics when shooting video.  So if the video-recording on the Pixel 3 is better than the previous one, this will be a necessary addition.  So you’ll be able to add Rode lav mics and others to record voiceovers, interviews, etc.

The update is said to be available on the 18th when the Pixel 3s go live.  No word on whether or not, if or when it will arrive for the older Pixels.  This is a cool feature for creators to make better use of the Pixel 3.

I, for one, am curious to see how it is all executed by Google.  Thoughts on it?
