We had LG this week and we’re moving on to the next company’s unveiling.  This upcoming Tuesday is Google’s turn to show and prove w/ a new phone & products to end the year with. The Made By Google event is happening on October 9th in NYC to either confirm or deny the plethora of rumors & leaks out there on the internet.  Let’s go down the list of what to expect from the event, shall we?

Pixel 3 + Pixel 3 XL

So until this changes, the 3rd-gen Pixels will be worst kept secret in smartphone history.  The smaller Pixel 3 is said to tout a 5.5inch display w/ 2160 x 1080 resolution + 441ppi and a 2915 mAh battery inside + wireless charging.  While the Pixel 3 XL will have a 6.7inch display w/ a notch + 2960 x 1440 resolution + 491ppi and a 3430 mAh battery.

Both versions of the Pixel 3 is said to have 18:9 aspect ratio screens, be powered by a Snapdragon 845 CPU, 4GB of RAM,  a 12MP rear-facing single lens + 8MP dual lenses (one a f/1.8 & the other a f/2.2), running Android 9.0 Pie, and stereo speakers.  The cameras will be improved as no one has beaten yet in performance as well as Google Lens will be always running whenever your camera is open.  And based off of last year’s Pixel Buds, we’re getting a USB-C wired version bundled in the box.

Pixel Stand Wireless Charger

So we previously mentioned wireless charging will be added to the 2018 Pixels.  Google will offer an accessory to take full advantage of it w/ the Pixel Stand.  This won’t be your typical wireless charger though.  While on it, this will give you Google Assistant info like messages, alarms, music, calendar events, & photos while it’s charging.  Think of it as turning your smartphone into a smaller Smart Display.

Google Home Hub

Speaking of Smart Displays, its Google’s turn to show off theirs now that Lenovo & JBL has theirs.  It looks like a tablet w/ the design language of the original Pixel smartphone and the Google Home Max.  We’re expecting a 7inch display tablet sitting on a fabric-covered speaker, a camera in the front, mute switch + volume rocker, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and weigh in at only 1.05lbs.  We’re expecting Google to unveil some new features to help it stand out amongst the other Smart Displays out there.  We don’t know what to expect for pricing but I would say around the $250-$300 price range.

Pixel Slate

Google wants to try their hand at the ChromeOS tablet so we will get the Pixel Slate.  Acer & HP already offer the tablet w/ detachable keyboard and now its Google’s turn.  It became a thing after a leak from accessory-maker Brydge.  It is said to offer a Core i7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, not sure fo the display size but will offer 3000 x 2000 resolution, and a pair of Sony IMX camera sensors on the front + back.  I’m sure it will offer a new feature to make separate it from the other 2 tablets on the market.

FYI: Not the Pixelbook 2

Pixelbook 2

Now this one may or may not be unveiled on the 9th as there isn’t much info floating around about it.  The new Pixelbook could just be a spec bump or a few new features to help it stand out.  There are a few things that are floating around about this.  The new one could offer a 4K display, new Sony IMX sensor in the webcam to support 1080p@60fps, and moving the Power button on the keyboard instead of the side.  If it does get announced, it won’t go up in pricing as it was $1,000 last year.

Chromecast 3rd-Gen

We were thinking it may arrive but then the Best Buy accidentally sold one and let us know its definitely real.  The new Chromecast won’t look drastically different from the last one.  However, it will get a bit thicker, offer a matte finish w/ the ‘G’ logo, keep the microUSB port instead of going USB-C, and added Bluetooth support.  The Bluetooth feature could offer some gaming support for an upcoming gaming console.

We may or may not get new truly wireless Pixel Buds.  The alleged Pixel Watch has been delayed.  Hopefully waiting for that new Snapdragon Wear processor.  That’s about it in regards to intel but leaks seem to be happening daily.  Whatever gets unveiled, we will be there live to let you know about it all.  Which product are you looking forward to?
