Earlier this afternoon, DJI dropped the new device. No, not another drone but a handheld gimbal camera called the Osmo Pocket. It looks like one of their drone gimbals attached to a pocket audio recorder. But let’s dive into its features, specs, and what it can do.
It offers a f/2.0 12MP camera w/ 1 2/3inch sensor that can record 4K video @60fps at a 100Mbps bitrate. This sits on top of a 3-axis gimbal w/ a 1inch touchscreen for framing/viewing but is also equipped w/ a USB-C port to attach your phone for a bigger screen via the DJI Mimo app (which includes its own photo/video editor). It has dual mics for recording audio and a 875 mAh battery that DJI says will give you over 2 hours of usage. All in a package that 4inches tall and weighs in at only 4oz.
DJI gave it a few tricks w/ the FPV (first person view) mode, face-tracking abilites, Active Track for tracking moving subjects, timelapse + motionlapse, panorama mode, and Night Mode to help it be more than just a handheld gimbal. It even has its own accessories like ND filters, 3.5mm adapter to add an external mic, charging case, extension rods, and more.
The Osmo Pocket will begin shipping sometime next month and tout a $350 price tag w/ it. Pre-orders are already live for the this one. So will you be checking out the latest from DJI and adding it to your creative tools or nah?
