Well, we told you it was coming last week and it is now here. Say hello, officially, to the newest & smaller member of the Canon EOS full-frame mirrorless family w/ the RP camera. This is essentially the EOS camera but in a smaller size w/ a few features cut at a $1,299 price point.
So things like the top LCD settings screen, multifunction bar, and in-body image stabilization are gone. But you still have a robust array of features the RP has to offer. Like it is armed w/ a 26.2MP sensor from the 6D Mk II, Digic 8 image processor, dual-pixel autofocus w/ 4779 AF points, ISO 100-40,000, 5fps continuous shooting, 4K video cropped @24fps, 3inch touchscreen LCD that swivels out for vlogging, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a 3.5mm jack.
The only issue on paper is that this doesn’t use the same batteries as the EOS but it’s own that are smaller than those on the Rebel cameras. The Canon EOS RP is due out later this month on the 27th again for $1,299 for the body only. You can hit the link below to pre-order yours now.
Is this the perfect blend of feature/function/price from Canon to make you pull the trigger?
