So today, Google is taking Project Stream out of beta and bringing it to the masses.  Project Stream is no more, say hello to Stadia.  This will be their way to bring top notch gaming to your mobile device by the way of the Chrome browser.  More specifically, your desktop, laptop, TV, tablet, & smartphone will be your console.

Google is coming for Microsoft & Sony.

So it works is that all games are hosted through the cloud so there won’t be any waiting to download or install as it will be based on your Internet speed.  Stadia will offer cross-platform multiplayer as well.  They will be able to bring top-tier games in up to 4K resolution @60fps in HDR + surround sound.  They’re looking to bring that up to 8K & 120fps in the future.

Google is even sticking their chest out and touting 10.7 GPU teraflops compared to the PS4 Pro (4.2 teraflops) & Xbox One X (6.0 teraflops).  This is possible by each Stadia server being powered by a custom x86 2.7GHz AMD CPU, 16GB of RAM, and running Linux instead of Windows.

You’ll be able to play Stadia games w/ a keyboard + mouse combo as well as their own controller.  It resembles a cross between a PS4 & Xbox One controller but offers a Google Assistant button and quick sharing button.  Stadia will be able to directly connect to YouTube Gaming to share clips as well as livestream w/ to fans.

Google announced they have their own Stadia Studio for exclusive content as well as Doom Eternal coming to their gaming platform.  We don’t have any launch details or pricing but Google says they’ll have more details about Stadia later this summer.

Maybe at I/O this year?
