In case you didn’t know, today (July 17th) is World Emoji Day.  To celebrate, the Unicode Consortium is teasing their upcoming emojis to be added to smartphones later this year.  Yeah, they’re getting a lot better in representing everyone of all walks of life.

So you’ll definitely see a lot more inclusion within the variety of emojis like a different skin tones of praying hands, mixed tones for couples, same-sex couples, etc.  You’ll see more accessibility one too like guide dogs, wheelchairs, prosthetic limbs, etc.  You’ll also be able to add a superhero that resembles Superman and a supervillain that resembles X-Men’s Mr. Sinister but w/ green gloves on.   As well as new animals like sloths, otters, orangutans, and more.

They’ve been updating the emojis annually as of late.  They’ll be arriving to both Android Q & iOS13 in the fall.  If you have Android Q Beta, you can access them starting today while iOS users will have to wait for the official iOS 13 launch.
