Yesterday out in NYC, Sony unveiled another high-end camera offering some of its more recent features seen on its last few mirrorless shooters.  Say hello to the A7R IV.  This is their highest resolution full-frame camera they’ve ever made w/ their 35mm full-frame 61MP sensor in a body that weighs under 2lbs.

The A7R IV is a midway point between the A7R III & the A9.

So along w/ the massive MP sensor, you got 567 phase auto-focus points, capable of 10fps continuous shooting, has a 5-axis optical image stabilization, 15-stop dynamic range, S-Log3 support, real-time eye auto-focus for photos/video along w/ real-time tracking, and retains its 6K video quality downsampled to 4K.  This offers a new body built to better handle dust water as well as a redesigned grip.  It supports dual UHS II SD cards to keep on shooting w/o needing to swap cards.

Sony took the time to beef up its audio recording as well.  You got a new system that captures a digital audio signal as they unveiled a $350 shotgun mic & $600 XLR mic adapter kit to natively take advantage of it.

This new shooter is due out shortly in September for $3,500 for the body.  I dig it but I’m still curious about whether or not we’ll see another A7S camera or not.  I know I can’t be the only one thinking about it either.
