Days ahead of the official Galaxy Note 10 announcement, Samsung makes the Galaxy Watch Active 2 official. They made sire to add some features here to be a lot more competitive against the Apple Watch.
For starters, navigation via the bezel is back but slightly different as there’s no bezel here but a touch sensitive area around the display w/ haptic clicks. This was fan-favorite and not sure why they removed it in the 1st place. They’re still using a curved Super AMOLED display BTW. Next, we have their Tizen-based OS getting the One UI update for even better navigating screens and apps. The biggest addition is the new ECG (electrocardiogram) for reading heart irregularities but won’t be available at launch though.
Outside of that, you got some improvements to what was already present. There’s an improved heart-rate monitor + accelerometer, Bluetooth 5.0, Bixby Assistant on board, NFC for mobile payments, and standalone GPS that won’t require your phone.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 will arrive in 2 sizes: 40mm & 44mm as well as Bluetooth and LTE models. Pre-orders kick off on September 6th and will be available on September 27th. The standard 40mm Bluetooth edition will start at $279 while the LTE edition doesn’t have pricing available yet.
Will you be picking one of these up?
