It seems like ages ago when Google announced that their Google Play Music service will be folded into their YouTube Music one and its been relatively quiet ever since.  We’ll earlier today, some information was revealed that the end of GPM is coming sooner rather than later.  More specifically, the end of this year is will come to an end.   So they added the ability to import your music library from GPM to YTM.

HOW TO TRANSFER VIA MOBILE:

  • Click on the transfer button in YouTube Music, and your uploads, purchases, added songs and albums, personal and subscribed playlists, likes and dislikes, curated stations and personal taste preferences will move right over.
  • Your updated recommendations will appear immediately on the YouTube Music home screen, and we’ll notify you via email and notifications when your music library transfer is complete and your music is in the “Library” tab.

HOW TO TRANSFER VIA DESKTOP BROWSER:

Keep in mind that once you transfer, they don’t expect you to use GPM again.  So if you do go back to make changes to your library there, you’ll have to transfer it again to YTM as they won’t sync together.

So for those of you who are GPM subscribers, pricing will remain the same.  And those of you interested in checking it out, there’s an ad-supported version for free and a premium version that starts at $10 per month w/ ad-free YouTube.

So who will be making the transition or will you find another home for your music?
