So after months of Canon teasing the answer to Sony’s A7-line of shooters, they’re ready to finally unveil their new EOS R camera(s) to the world.  Canon has a virtual product launch happening this Thursday at 8AM EST.  We knew the EOS R5 was coming but now we got word of another shooter that will be step down from it w/ the EOS R6.

So the EOS R5 is rumored to offer 8K RAW Internal @30fps as well as 8K 10-bit 4:2:2 Canon Log, 4K video up to 120fps, and 4K external recording up to 60fps.  All of this w/ no crop for both 4K + 8K video as well as access to their amazing Dual Pixel AF in all 4K + 8K video modes.  Canon is definitely pulling out all stops as this will have a 1st for the company w/ 5-axis IBIS (In-Body Stabilization) that will work in tandem w/ the OIS on their RF + EF lenses.  And last but not least, you’ll have dual card slots present w/ one being a CFexpress and the other being an SD one.   the pricing is currently rumored at under $4,000.

While the EOS R6 is rumored to offer a 20MP full-frame mirrorless sensor w/ in-body image stabilization, capable of oversampled 5K/4K @60fps/1080p up to 120fps, Canon Log, 10-bit video shooting, dual SD slots, 12fps mechanical + 20fps electronic, AF system identical + EVF from the EOS R5, and head + animal detection AF.  All of this w/ a $2,500 price tag for the body.

So I’m very curious about what Canon has to offer as well as how many Sony users will jump ship to or back to Canon after this.  I may try to pick one of these up instead of the Sony A7 III.  Definitely looking forward to Thursday.  How about you?
