So after years of testing the EV waters w/ the Leaf, Nissan is ready for more.   In case you were wondering when will they ever do more?  The time is now.  Yesterday evening, they unveiled their new electric crossover SUV called the Ariya.  The Ariya started off as a concept vehicle unveiled at last year Auto Show and has made its way to a full-fledged mid-sizes electric SUV.

So since we’re talking EVs, we’re talking about batteries here on the Ariya.   So look for a 63 kWh or a 87 kWh battery option as well as a 2-wheel or a twin electric motor that gives you all-wheel drive that Nissan calls e-4ORCE.  This will help achieve up to 300 miles of range.  Ariya will be utilizing their latest advanced driver assistance system called ProPilot 2.0.  This will allow for hands-free driving on highways as well as the usual stuff like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep, blind-spot detection, and more.

Inside you got 2 12.3inch horizontal screen w/ one for the driver and the other one in the center.  Just about everything is controlled there save for the car’s heating + cooling system.  There will be haptic switches on the wood paneling to access.  The Ariya’s infotainment system supports both Apple Carplay & Android Auto as well as can be updated via OTA.

That’s all Nissan revealed as the full line of specs will be revealed at a later time.  Pricing will start around $40,000 but it will be eligible for federal tax credits + state incentives so depending on where you live, you can save up to $10,000.   The Ariya is set to go on sale in Japan sometime during mid-2021 and then hit the US + Canada later next year.
