Google recently announced a new, welcome addition to their speaker & displays w/ multi-audio controls.  This will be the way of a new interface on Assistant-powered smart displays + speakers (includes Chromecast devices as well).

You just create a group of 2 or more devices and you can now control the playback/volume from apps like Spotify + YouTube Music.  You’ll have access to a Group or Master volume as well as the ability to adjust the controls on their individual devices.  So if you have multiple Google smart home devices, you can really give it a more Sonos-like ability to control + access each device separately & together.

The new interface is effective as of yesterday for devices like the Nest Hub, Nest Hub Max, and other  Smart Displays.  The feature will make its way to the Google Home app later this fall as well.
