On Friday, we told you about some renders & specs leaks on the forthcoming Pixel 4a 5G & Pixel 5. Over the weekend, we got some more news that would make for a more enticing phones from Google later in the fall.
So we’re looking a little bit better but more or less a slight step up from the Pixel 4a. Surprisingly, the 4a 5G will be slightly larger than the Pixel 5, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. But the Pixel 5 will offer a 90Hz refresh rate display, a larger battery w/ fast wired + wireless charging, and more RAM inside. We got all of the details listed below:
Pixel 4a 5G
- 3,800 mAh battery
- Rear cameras: a 0.5x wide-angle lens, possibly the 16MP Sony IMX481 and a 12.2MP main camera (allegedly the Sony IMX363)
- Front camera: a hole punch 8MP Sony IMX355
- Snapdragon 765G
- 6GB RAM
- 6.2inch 60Hz OLED display
- Physical fingerprint scanner on back
- 3.5mm headphone jack
Pixel 5
- 4,000 mAh battery w/ 15W wired + 5W wireless charging
- Rear cameras: a 0.5x wide-angle lens, possibly the 16MP Sony IMX481 and a 12.2MP main camera (allegedly the Sony IMX363)
- Front camera: a hole punch 8MP Sony IMX355
- Snapdragon 765G
- 8GB RAM
- 90Hz 6inch OLED display
- Plastic back
- Physical fingerprint scanner on back
So we know the Pixel 4a 5G will cost $499 as Google said it when they unveiled the 4a. As for the Pixel 5, no word as of yet on pricing but if I would say $599 or $699 depending on if there are multiple storage options or not. Rumors have Google to unveil the 2 5G devices sometime within the end of September or the beginning of October w/ pre-orders kicking off on October 8th.
Google is definitely going the sub-$1,000 pricing + offering to focus more on a simpler experience. If this all pans out to be true, are you happy or disappointed w/ Google’s fall offerings?
