While we didn’t much details on how Sony will handle playing PS4 games on the PS5 and the details along w/ it. On Friday, Sony dropped a FAQ in their blog that answers most of the PS5 backward compatibility questions you & the Internet may have. We got it broken down below.
First thing first, out of the over 4,000 PS4 titles, thus far only 10 of them won’t be compatible. They are listed below:
- DWVR
- Afro Samurai 2: Revenge of Kuma Volume One
- TT Isle of Man – Ride on the Edge 2
- Just Deal With It!
- Shadow Complex Remastered
- Robinson: The Journey
- We Sing
- Hitman Go: Definitive Edition
- Shadwen
- Joe’s Diner
Next up, this is how you’ll be able to PS4 games on the PS5.
- PS4 games will work w/ the PS5 DualSense controllers but recommends the PS4 DualShock 4 controllers. However, you won’t be able to use the PS4 controller for PS5 games though.
- PS4 games will be upgraded to PS5 on a developer basis. Most of them will be upgradeable for free like Cyberpunk 2077, FIFA 21, & Madden 21 to name a few for a limited time.
- PS4 games will be able to play on a PS5 via a disc a lot easier than the digital version. Playing digital PS4 games will require you to download the title to your library. However, you will need download PS4 games on an external drive while PS5 titles will be installed on the internal SSD. Also, PS4 games saves will be able to transfer via USB storage.
Definitely something to look forward when your PS5 arrives no matter which one you got: the standard or the digital edition.
