Yesterday was Day 1 of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Tech Summit. They’re usually in Hawaii but due to the pandemic everything is virtual these days until an unforeseen time. This is where they unveil their newest processors that will be powering the new smartphones.
So for 2021, the Snapdragon 888 CPU will be their new flagship chipset powering Android devices. The focus will still be on 5G w/ their X60 modem to grant you access no matter the 5G type, frequency, or country you’re in. It will be faster at handling things like capturing photos @120 shots per second, a faster AI for processing that utilizes less power consumption, and 3rd-gen Elite Gaming feature to pull mobile gaming @144fps.
We can expect to see the Snapdragon 888 on the upcoming Galaxy S21 line of phones set to be unveiled sometime next month. Curious to see how they’ll handle mid-tier and entry-level CPUs w/ 5G for 2021 as well. Maybe we’ll get more on that sometime today on Day 2.
