Another year, another heavily-leaked flagship phone being revealed. Kicking things off a little bit earlier than usual is the Galaxy S21 family from Samsung. Like the past few years, we got a 3-prong attack w/ 3 new smartphones w/ the Galaxy S21, the Galaxy S21 Plus, & the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
The S21 lineup looks good but not a huge jump from the S20 lineup.
The S21 offers a 6.2inch display w/ 2400 x1080 resolution + 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a 4000 mAh battery. While the S21 Plus offers a 6.7inch display w/ 2400 x1080 resolution + 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a 4800 mAh battery. Outside of that, both of these phones share the same specs. So we got 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, powered by Snapdragon 888 CPU, running Android 11 w/ One Ui 3.1, stereo speakers from AKG w/ Dolby Atmos, IP68 dust/water resistant body, and 25W Super Fast charging/15W Fast wireless charging/wireless PowerShare.
As far as the cameras, we’re looking at triple setup on the rear. We got a f/2.2 12MP ultrawide, a f/1.8 12MP wide, and a f/2.0 64MP telephoto sensors w/ a single LED flash. Like last year, it is capable of 8K video @30fps, 4K @60fps, and 1080p video at up to 240fps. Last but not least, it will have a f/2.2 10MP wide-angle selfie camera.
Moving onto the big boy & the more powerful one: the Galaxy S21 Ultra. This offers a 6.8inch display w/ 3200 x 1440 resolution + 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, powered by a Snapdragon 888 CPU, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, IP68 dust/water-resistant body, running Android 11 w/ One UI 3.1, AKG stereo speakers + Dolby Atmos, a 5000 mAh battery w/ 25W SuperFast + 15W Fast Wireless charging/Wireless PowerShare.
FYI: The S21 Ultra now has S Pen support - but its not included.
Now in regards to the shooters, you’re getting a step up over the standard S21 + S21 Plus models. You a quad-line of shooters on the rear w/ a f/2.2 12MP ultrawide, f/1.8 108MP wide, f/2.4 10MP telephoto, f/4.9 10MP telephoto sensors. You also got laser AF (autofocus), 100x Space Zoom, ToF (Time of Flight) sensor, and a single LED flash. You can shoot 8K video here as well BTW. Last but not least, you got a f/2.2 40MP camera on front dedicated for selfies.
And like Apple, Samsung will also not ship the charging brick inside of the box. You’ll only have the USB-C cable, SIM tool, & Quick Start Guide. Despite the fact that they clowned them a bit online about and now following suit.
The S21 lineup will be available on January 29th as pre-order are available now. The S21 will be available in Phantom Violet, Phantom Gray, Phantom Pink, and Phantom White. While the S21+ will come in Phantom Violet, Phantom Silver, and Phantom Black. And finally, the S21 Ultra will come in Phantom Silver and Phantom Black, as well as more colors exclusive to Samsung’s website. The S21 will start at $799, the S21 Plus starts at $999, & the S21 Ultra starts at $1,199.
