Not to be outdone by Rode, Sony dropped their wireless mic & lav mic earlier today. We got the EMC-W2BT wireless mic & the ECM-LV1 stereo lav mic. But unlike the competition, this will take advantage of Sony’s Multi-interface shoe instead of taking up a spot on your cage or rig.
The ECM-W2BT will offer 3 sound pick up modes w/ MIC mode, MIX mode, & a new RCVR mode which allows you to record sound + ambient sound at the same time using the mic & the receiver. It supports stereo audio input & has an external 3.5mm stereo mini-jack. It will be able to record w/ obstacles or crowded environments up to 656ft while taking advantage of Qualcomm’s aptX Low-Latency codec. All w/ a 9 hour battery life via their battery assist function. It can also be used on Sony cameras that don’t offer the Multi-Interface shoe models as well.
Their ECM-LV1 lav mic can be used in tandem w/ the ECM-W2BT of course. The lav offers high quality stereo sound w/ a 360-degree rotatable clip w/ the power being supplied by the mic connector.
The ECM-W2BT wireless mic will arrive in April for $230 while the ECM-LV1 lav mic will arrive also in April for $30. So will you be picking this pair of up to use on your Sony shooter?
