Earlier today, Sonos made their latest addition to their audio lineup official w/ the Roam portable speaker.   This is the smaller take on their Move speaker but adds a few more trick to the mix.  Details about this leaked out earlier and now everything is out in the open.

The Roam is on the smaller side weighing in at 0.95lbs & standing at 6.61inches tall.  Making it small enough to carry w/ you anywhere or place it several places in your home.  The Roam offer 2 Class-H amps, a tweeter, & a custom mid-woofer for optimal output.  Not it won’t have that 360-degree sound like the UE Boom offers but the sound will be on sublime.  It is dust + waterproof w/ its IP67 rating and touts a 10-hour battery life w/ 10 days of standby time.  It also offers a custom magnetic wireless charger that is sold separately  but any Qi wireless charger or USB-C cable can charge it.

It also offers both Bluetooth + Wi-Fi support simultaneously rather than choosing other one or the other like on the Move.  You will be able to pair 2 Roams in a stereo pair but in Wi-Fi not Bluetooth.  It has a new feature called Sound Swap that activates when you press & hold the play/pause button to switch the music to the nearest Sonos speaker in your home.

You got voice support for Alexa, Google Assistant, AirPlay 2 or directly from your dedicated music streaming app.  And last but not least, there’s Trueplay support that will allow the speaker to tune the room to offer the best audio experience.

The new Sonos Roam is due out on April 20th for $169 and will arrive in Shadow Black & Lunar White color options.  So how many of these are you picking up?
