Among all of the big Apple news yesterday, there was a bit of news hidden in the small print of one of their press releases.  We now know when iOS 14.5 will be out of beta & available for mass public consumption.

So within the AirTag press release, it states that:

  • AirTag requires iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 14.5 or later, or iPad running iPadOS 14.5 or later. These software updates will be available starting next week.

For a quick recap, iOS 14.5 will add features like the ability to change Siri’s voice, the ability to unlock your iPhone while wearing a face mask via Apple Watch, better privacy control, PS5 + Xbox controller support, & more.

The same goes for the latest macOS + watchOS software updates which was within the Podcasts subscription press release as it states:

  • Listeners will be able to access the enhanced Search tab with Top Charts and categories, new show and episode pages with the Smart Play button, and Saved Episodes on iOS 14.5, iPadOS 14.5, and macOS 11.3. Saved Episodes are also available on watchOS 7.4 and tvOS 14.5. These software updates will be available next week.

It all makes sense as they want their new products/service to work properly so expect the official rollout for the new updates sometime next week.
