Kia has plenty of hybrid vehicles as about more than half of their product line offers a hybrid version of it. But this year, they’re going unveiling their all-electric offering to the US. Tonight, Kia revealed their upcoming EV6 electric vehicle in NYC.
The EV6 was created by Kia merging their 3 design studios in Seoul, Frankfurt, & Irvine, Ca. They made sure to bring forth some of the usual suspects you would see along w/ new innovation as well. So this gives you a ‘Digital Tiger’ grill, dynamic light pattern for headlights, flush door handles, and a high-rear deck that acts as a spoiler.
On the inside, you got 100% vegan leather surfaces on select trims, 100% LED lighting, slim front seats comprised of ultra-light giga-steel, hands-free smart power tailgate for easy trunk access, it offers a frunk (front trunk), and a 27.7 cubic-feet of cargo space. You got a dual 12inch touchscreen panels for infotainment & car info w/ Blue-light filter, AR-powered HUD (heads up display), Meridian Premium Audio system comprised of 14 speakers w/ titanium dome, wireless charging built-in, and UVO link (that grants access to tons of things like smartwatch/smartphone access, smart speaker integration, navigation, & more).
On the safety side of things, you’ll have 4 cameras to offer a Surround View Monitor for 360-degree view of the car, parking assist, safe exit assist, blindspot assist, forward-collison assist, smart cruise control, & much more.
In regards to under the hood, there will be several options consisting of rear-wheel & all-wheel drive configurations. Ranging from a 58 kWh battery w/ RWD + 187 hp & going all the way up to a 77.4 kWh battery w/ AWD + 576hp. They’re talking a fast multi-battery charging as well w/ 400v + 800v DC charging which will allow for up to 210 miles range in 18 minute charge. There’s also a 11 kWh on-board charger as well that can output power to its passengers to charger laptops, tablets, & more.
The 1st EV6 models will go on sale starting early 2022 w/ the faster GT line coming in late 2022. They will offer a special EV6 First Edition limited to only 1,500 units. Those of you interested will be able to reserve yours starting as soon as June 3rd at Kia’s website.
