Yesterday, Google made their new 2021 lineup of Nest Home products official after being leaked earlier this week. We got the new battery-powered Nest Cam, the wired Nest Cam, the Nest Cam w/ floodlight, and a battery-powered Nest Doorbell. Now don’t look for 4K video quality but they’re offering better AI-powered features.

Speaking of AI-powered features, these new Nest products will offer on-device machine learning. This will be able to detect everything from people as well as facial recognition, animals, packages, vehicles, & more w/o the need for cloud processing. These will be powered by their Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) to enhance the photo/video quality on-device like the chipset will do for the upcoming Pixel 6.

The battery-powered + Wi-Fi-enabled $180 Nest Cam starts at $180 as it can record in HDR 1080p video @30fps w/ 130-degree field-of-view w/ 6x digital zoom, Night Vision, 2-way talk, IP54 rating, and up to 3 hours of video history. Nest Cam attaches to a magnetic plate to be used anywhere including indoor + outdoor w/ the option to hard-wire it as well. Pre-orders for it are live now and goes on sale on August 24th.

There is a version of the Nest Cam w/ floodlight as well. This is a hard-wired Nest Cam attached to a 2400 lumen floodlight and adds IP65 weather-resistance rating. The floodlights will be activated when it detects any type of motion while the competition just activates when it detects a person or a vehicle. This is coming soon w/ a $280 price tag attached to it.

And the last version of the Nest Cam is their $100 Indoor model which is smaller than the standard models. It does lack the battery-power + weather-sealing but still keeps the camera optics & AI features. There is an optional wooden base to be placed on a table or mounted on a wall indoors. Like the Nest Cam w/ Floodlights, it will arrive at a later date.

Next up, the new $180 battery-powered + Wi-Fi-enabled Nest Doorbell records in a 920 x 1280 DH video resolution in HDR + Night Vision, records up to 3 hours of video, a 145-degree field-of-view, the battery lasts up to 2 and a half months, 2-way talk, and an IP54 rating. It is also available for pre-order now and will become available on August 24th.

So if you’re already within the Google ecosystem for your home, these will be amazing additions to them. Will you be upgrading to one or more of these new Nest Home products?
