Sonos has had a bit of an interesting time lately having just having to increase their prices of all of their products over the weekend. Nevertheless, we’re getting a product update today w/ their 2nd-gen Beam soundbar.
So their new-and-improved Beam brings forth an slightly improved design, Dolby Atmos audio support, and it will arrive in Black + White color options. Now despite the Dolby Atmos support, they didn’t add any up-firing speakers to the internals. So you still have the center tweeter, 4 woofers, & 3 passive radiators.
In regards to the changes present, they got rid of their fabric cover & swapped it out for their now-signature perforated plastic. The internal CPU is now 40% faster for better audio performance. This is done via software to better produce an immersive sound w/ 5 arrays. Giving you 2 more to better steer surround sound + height audio within your room. You still got 1 HDMI port BTW, but it has been upgraded to an eARC to handle everything from Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, & multi-channel LPCM.
And speaking of price increases, it will be $50 more than the previous generation at $449. It is due out on October 5th as you can pre-order yours right now via the link below.
