Earlier today, Sony unveiled their latest pair of earbuds to the market: the LinkBuds. Now you can tell by just looking at them that they stand out a lot. This is due to their new open-style buds to allow more ambient sound in – all day.
Sony calls it their ‘open ring design’ so because of that, don’t look for any type of noise-canceling here. You’ll have to go to their many other buds they have on the market. The LinkBuds sit in your ears via silicone arcs and gives you 4 options to choose from within the box.
Sony gave these the standard IPX4 rating for water-resistance, armed these w/ 12mm drivers, powered by their V1 processor that’s within their WF-1000XM4 buds, and DSEE audio upscaling to make up for the lack of LDAC audio support here. You can control them by tapping what Sony calls the ‘wide area tap’ which is the area of your skin in front of your ear to skip tracks, adjust volume, etc.
On the battery side of things, you got 5.5 hours of juice on a single charge w/ 12 extra hours via its charging case. No wireless charging support here but you have Fast Pair support for Android & Swift Pair for Windows 10/11 PCs.
Sony’s new LinkBuds are available on February 17th for $180 in your choice of Dark Gray or White color options. Are these your next earbuds or nah?
