For those of you wondering if we’ll ever get a new tablet from Google to revive the amazing days of the Nexus 7 tablet, kind of.  Recent rumblings say that one will arrive in the form of a detachable Nest Hub that sounds amazing in theory.

According to the folks over at 9to5Google, the nest version of the Nest Hub smart display will have a removable screen that can be used as a tablet on its own.  When undocked, you would be able to access apps by swiping up, have a Gboard-like keyboard, have a feature-rich browser, & more.

Now the report mentions that they need to narrow down what OS/UX will power this thing.  Chrome OS is power-hungry & costly, Android will give you access to the Play Store, or possibly an experimental OS like their Fuschia OS.  Or something completely new or a mesh of their platforms.  We’ll have to wait and see which route they go.

This would be their 4th-gen Smart Display as they have 2 Nest Hubs out and the larger Nest Hub Max.   And its been so long since we’ve got a good tablet from Google themselves.  So they’re definitely overdo.

The cool thing is that we may not have to wait long for it as it is said to be announced sometime this year.  Maybe we’ll get a tease at I/O in a few weeks.  Maybe, maybe not.  Would you be interested in something like this or do you need to see how it looks + is executed?
