These days, it ain’t a Google I/O w/o some new hardware. This year is no different as we have the budget version of their most recent flagship w/ the Pixel 6A. But not as budget as we’ve been used to in regards to its build. So instead of a plastic shell, we’re retaining the aluminum and glass design.
Outside of that, you got a 6.1inch 1080p OLED display, powered by the same Google Tensor CPU on the 6/6 Pro, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, stereo speakers, under-display fingerprint reader, a 12MP main + 12MP ultra-wide dual rear camera setup w/ new version of Magic Eraser + Real Tone features, an 8MP selfie camera, and a 4400 mAh battery w/ fast charging.
Google says it will offer up to 5 years of security updates for the 6A. You’ll also have features like Live Translation as well. No headphone jack this time around as you’ll have to go Bluetooth for your audio. And last but not least, a smaller + slightly redesigned camera bar w/ visible cutouts for the lenses.
This is due to arrive sometime in July due to supply constraints for $449. You’ll have the color options of charcoal, chalk, and sage to choose from as well. We have some ways to wait for it instead of the usual immediate or few week-wait for launch.
The real question is will you be picking this one up?
