Earlier this morning, DJI made their previously-leaked drone official w/ their new Mini 3 Pro.  Mainly bringing forth a new image sensor w/ a larger aperture, vertical filming, bigger battery, and costing more.  But let’s break it all down about all of the details + pricing.

The new Mini 3 Pro comes in still lightweight w/ coming in at under 250 grams so you won’t need to register it w/ the FAA depending on the battery you arm it with.  More on that later.  One of the key new things here is the fact that it can rotate the gimbal 90 degrees for vertical photos/videos for IG Reels/Snaps/YT Shorts/TikToks.

The new Mini 3 Pro offers a new + larger 1/1.3inch sensor capable of recording in 4K@60fps + 4K@30fps HDR, 1080p@120fps Slow-Motion, and f/1.7 aperture 48MP photos.  While videographers will enjoy the ability to shoot in a flat color profile for grading in post.

Now let’s dive into some of the new features + sensors.  The addition of obstacle avoidance brings more autonomy to its flight modes.  So you can got Spotlight 2.0 that keeps your subject in frame while focusing in flight, Point of Interest 3.0 that orbits subjects/objects in a set speed, ActiveTrack 4.0 that follows subjects while flying parallel to the side, MasterShots where you can create a short edit based on pre-set flights, hyperlapse, dronies, helix, rocket, circle, boomerang, & asteroid modes.

Now back to the aforementioned batteries, you will have 2 options for 2022.  You got the standard one that gives you up to 34 minutes of juice while the new Intelligent Flight Battery Plus grants you up to 47 minutes.  So when equipped w/ the larger battery, you’ll have to register this drone w/ the FAA.

And last but not least, we got a new remote controller to add within the mix w/ their new DJI RC as you can see on the right in the image above.  This has a 5.5inch 700-nit built-in screen so you won’t need your phone to control it.  Currently, the DJI RC only works w/ the Mini 3 Pro at launch but will become compatible on their other drones in the future.  This is more or less a lighter version of their $1,200 DJI RC Pro.  You can grab this remote w/ your Mini 3 Pro for an extra $340.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is available for pre-order today as it will be arriving sometime during the summer.  The drone by itself will cost you $669, with controller will cost you $759, and around $1,100 w/ the new RC controller.

So will you be upgrading to this new drone for your aerial shots or waiting for something else?
