And long-awaited and requested device is finally real and coming later this year w/ Google’s 1st official smartwatch. This is the Pixel Watch, the last piece of the puzzle of Google’s Pixel ecosystem that being built out + implemented. While many would claim the LG Watch Style/ Sport were their 1st, this will be their true foray into wearables from top-to-bottom.
We’re looking at a circular dome made of some sort of glass, a crown, a side button, proprietary swappable bands, and is comprised of recycled stainless steel. The Pixel Watch will run an enhanced version fo WearOS 3 w/ a Pixel Watch UI for better navigation + smart notifications, Fitbit integration (which will include heart rate tracking, sleep tracking, & Activity Zone minutes), Google Assistant, Google Maps, Google Wallet, Google Home, and Emergency SOS from the most recent Pixel smartphones.
Google promises all Fitbit/Google data will stay private & separate while Fitbit still has plans for its own Wear OS smartwatch & more Fitbit products. And last but not least, the Pixel Watch will require a Google account and a device running at least Android 8.0.
Since it’s due out later alongside the Pixel 7 series, we don’t have a lot of the details, features, or pricing on it just yet. But Google says it will have premium product pricing so I would say somewhere in the $300-$350 price range but we’ll see. So now that it’s finally been unveiled, will you be picking this one up in the Fall?
