As one of the more recent leaks leading up to I/O this year is a new pair of earbuds from Google and they’ve been made official. Meet the all-new Pixel Buds Pro. Google’s more competitive & premium audio earbuds to compete directly w/ the AirPods Pro.
The Pixel Buds Pro checks off all of the boxes one would want on paper, anyways. It will have active noise cancellation w/ transparency mode, IPX4 rating, multipoint Bluetooth, and up to 7 hour battery life w/ ANC on + up to 11 hours w/ ANC off. Inside its armed w/ a 6-core processor & drivers to better measure the pressure within your ear canal for a better seal/fit.
You’ll still be able to enjoy the good features from previous Pixel Buds like Fast Pair + Volume EQ, Find My Device for each individual bud in case you lose one, and hands-free Google Assistant voice commands while using its new mics to suppress background noise.
And w/ Google building out their own ecosystem of products, the Pixel Buds Pro will be able to automatically switch between regularly-used Android devices w/o having to go to Bluetooth settings. Its multipoint Bluetooth will work w/ up to 2 devices BTW. And don’t look for spatial audio head tracking here but it will support regular spatial audio for music.
I’m hoping Google can keep up what they did w/ the Pixel Buds A-series and not go back to the 2nd-gen Pixel Buds when they launched. The new Pixel Buds Pro will go on sale alongside the Pixel 6A on July 21st and will arrive in black, blue, green, or red color options.
