Earlier this morning, the folks over at Xiaomi revealed their latest round of flagships w/ the 12S lineup.  However, the main focus will be on their high-end 12S Ultra.  It is armed w/ a massive 1inch sensor which means it can capture more light + details on the level of a point-and-shoot camera – in theory.

The 12S Ultra is armed w/ a 6.7inch 120Hz  AMOLED display w/ Dolby Vision support, powered by their Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 CPU, up to 12GB of RAM + up to 512GB of storage, IP68 dust/water-resistant body, running their MIUI 13 based on Android 12, and a 4,860 mAh battery w/ 67W wired fast charging + 50W wireless charging.

Now onto the main attraction: its cameras.  The entire camera system was co-engineered w/ Leica BTW.  The usual Leica branding hasn’t worked out in regards to making overall better images but this time might be different.  So you got a 1inch f/1.9 50MP Sony main wide sensor w/ OIS + 12.5MP pixel binning, a f/2.2 48MP ultrawide, and a f/4.1 48MP telephoto w/ OIS, 5x optical zoom + 120x digital zoom.  And this can shoot 4K in 10-bit Dolby Vision HDR up to 60fps which is a 1st for Android BTW as well as slow motion up to 480@480fps in 1080p.

Now as amazing as this phone looks/sounds, you can get it if you live anywhere but China.  However, Xiaomi is planning on another Leica collab for another device which will get a more global launch.  The Xiaomi 12S Ultra comes in two colors of Classic Black + Verdant Green w/ 3 storage variants: 8GB+256G priced at RMB 5,999, 12GB+256GB priced at RMB 6,499, and 12GB+512GB priced at RMB 6,999.
