Earlier this morning, Apple announced its second-generation AirTag, which looks the same but offers more useful capabilities. Hard to believe that these are only the 2nd-gen models and that the product itself is only five years old, as they’ve become a staple in our everyday life and travels.

The new Airtags are armed with Apple’s updated Ultra Wideband chip, which uses the company’s Precision Finding feature that utilizes a combination of haptic, visual, and audio feedback to track items up to 50% further away. The Finding feature can also be used with an Apple Watch Series 9 or later or an Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later running watchOS 26.2.1. The new tag is also 50% louder than its predecessor, as it uses a new distinctive chime, as Apple calls it.

Outside of its upgrades, the newest AirTag remains compatible with all existing accessories and supports Share Item Location and Apple’s Find My network. Pricing will also remain the same: $29 for one and $99 for a four-pack at retail, as the new AirTags are available now via Amazon and Apple.
