Not to be left out in all of the I/O 2026 news, Google’s smartwatch OS gets an update, and we meet Wear OS 7. The new update brings forth the power of Gemini Intelligence, a new widget system, live updates, and more. Google stated Wear OS 7 will arrive later this year on select wearables.

Google’s new wearable update brings forth the power of Gemini Intelligence for proactive features such as native task automation. You’ll be able to do things like track deliveries, and sports scores in real-time via Live Updates for glanceable information and offers customizable Wear Widgets, which will be dynamic and flexible.

One of the more notable updates, Google promises a 10% improvement in battery life for users. This is done via power optimizations, but time will tell if they can live up to the claims. Also, there are improved media controls, and a new watch face format, which the latter is news for developers as I/O is a developers conference.
