Google is continuing to push for more capabilities within Gemini in ways the Google Assistant never could. Yesterday, the company announced that its AI can now adjust and control your Google TV settings—adjusting your volume or brightness or diving into your TV settings via Gemini.
Google dropped the news within a community post with the things you can try. You can set brightness and contrast levels, change the picture mode, increase volume, and adjust the EQ via your voice—all without reaching for your remote. However, you can always access Gemini by holding the mic button on your physical remote as well.
Now, before you get excited to try it for yourself, this feature is currently only available on select TCL Google TV models, such as the QM9K, X11L, QM9L, QM8L, and RM9L. Unless there are specific hardware limitations at play, I imagine this will roll out to the Google TV Streamer 4K and other capable devices in the near future. If you own one of these TVs, head to Settings > System > About > System update to grab the latest Gemini update.
