In case you were like me and wondering when Google was going to release that new smart home speaker, you may not have to wait much longer. Originally slated for a Spring 2026 release, the $100 Google Home Speaker powered by Gemini appears to be just making the cut before Summer officially begins.
Yesterday, Google sent out an email to over 3.5 million Gemini for Home early testers, which thanked them for their feedback that resulted in over 2,500 bug fixes and expanded to 20 countries across 10 languages. In part, setting the groundwork for the upcoming smart speaker, as the email ends with “keep a very close eye on your inbox next week” regarding a certain speaker.
The company announced the Home Speaker during the Gemini-fication of their smart home software back in October. It will offer 360-degree sound, far-field mics, a light ring for visual feedback, be made with recycled materials, and arrive in four colors: jade, berry, hazel, and porcelain.
