By now everyone knows that in less than 24 hours, Apple will hold its annual September event unveiling the new iPhone.   For those of you out there not quite sure what to expect, we got you covered.   We put together the new iPhone specs along with other products expected to be announced tomorrow.  Let get right into it, shall we?

The new iPhone (or iPhone 5) is expected to be slightly redesigned but the biggest change ever for Apple’s hardware as they leave behind the 3.5inch screen size and go bigger.

  • A new 4inch LCD display w/ 1136 x 640 resolution that’s more scratch-resistant and durable than the i4S.  The display also brings the 16:9 aspect ratio for better media viewing.   This makes the screen taller not wider.  They also swapped out the glass rear for a two-tone aluminum unibody shell.
  • The new iPhone will finally have something most of you have been waiting for: 4G LTE speeds.  Apple waited until the processors that support LTE could better handle battery consumption and that time is now.
  • You know with LTE on-board, it would come with a faster processor as well.  Rumors suggest a faster dual-core A5X or possibly a quad-core A6 chipset inside.
  • While Apple is beefing up everything else, expect the RAM to finally double to 1GB of instead of the 512MB previously used.
  • Don’t expect to see a NFC chip inside as many may have thought after seeing the Passbook app.  Apple may use Bluetooth 4.0 technology as a workaround.
  • Apple will use an even smaller SIM card with the Nano-SIM.  Let’s see if the other manufactures will follow suit.

  • Along with moving the 3.5mm headphone jack to the bottom of the device and redesigning the speaker/mic grills, Apple also went and revamped their classic earphones as well.

  • And lastly on Apple’s list of iPhone changes is: the charging cable.  Instead of using the big 30-pin connector, they went shrunk it a 9-pin connector that looks more like a micro-USB size.  This gives Apple more room on the bottom for the previously mentioned changes.

During this summer’s WWDC, Apple unveiled a preview to the latest operation system with iOS 6.  The new OS was released as a beta developer’s version and offered several new features like:

  • Facebook integration. Post or Tweet option from the notification window.
  • FaceTime over cellular (finally!).
  • Do Not Disturb (mute notifications) setting
  • The option to reply to a missed call w/ a text message (i.e.: Motorola Smart Actions).
  • Siri coming to the iPad, more language support. Now Siri can launch apps, make restaurant reservations using OpenTable, and access sports scores/stats.
  • New Eyes Free feature coming newer cars that adds a Siri button to access your iPhone via voice.
  • Share PhotoStream photos with a select group of friends.
  • New Mail app that allows for a VIP inbox (starring emails/contacts), pull down to refresh, & easier way to insert photos/videos within an email.
  • New Maps apps that offers 3D rendering and at last turn-by-turn navigation (powered by TomTom) that supports Siri, offers live traffic updates, & runs from the lockscreen.
  • New app called Passbook that keeps all of your boarding passes, store cards, movie tickets, & loyalty cards all in one place that update whenever you update your info.

We hope that Apple has more to offer with the new OS than just this.

Now Apple’s Fall event is usually their Music event and although the iPhone will be a topic, the company will still continue as scheduled.  The new iPod Touch will share many of the new iPhone’s specs like:

  • a 4inch display w/ 1136 x 640 resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio
  • FaceTime HD front-facing camera
  • 5MP rear shooter w/ LED flash
  • dual speakers at the bottom
  • using the new 9-pin charging connector

The iPod shuffle isn’t expected to change at all other than storage sizes and pricing.

There is word of a new iPod nano on the horizon.  This new nano is said to be taller and possibly resembling the image above and becoming a iTouch mini.  This is rumored to arrive in only one storage size and price.

And that’s about it.  The Apple event starts tomorrow at 1PM.   I hope anyone interested in the iPhone has their $$$ ready.
