DSC00640Remember when the Surface event yesterday was thought to be the official unveiling of the Surface Mini? Obviously, we know that didn’t happen but there was some evidence lurking around the web of its existence. So how come we didn’t see yesterday?

The heads at Microsoft, CEO Satya Nadella + Executive VP Stephen Elop, decided to not pursue a Mini device at this time. According to the sources at Bloomberg, the current state of the Surface Mini wasn’t a compelling nor different enough device from their competitors and more than likely fail in the long run. The Mini was supposed to offer a 7.5inch display w/ 1440 x 1080 resolution, powered by a Snapdragon CPU, and running Windows RT.

The head of the Surface team, Panos Panay, did state that the dream isn’t completely dead. The company is still working on smaller devices but nothing in regards to timeframe or if any will make it to market or not.
