The Galaxy Fold is here & official! This is the 1st folding device to actually be announced and will be mass-produced to come to market. Samsung made sure to flex their engineering & innovative muscles w/ this one – pun intended. Let’s dive into what this has to offer.
Samsung will charge you an arm & a leg to repeatedly bend their phone.
At its unfolded state, it is a 7.3inch tablet w/ a Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex display and a 4.6inch Super HD+ AMOLED phone folded. It is powered by a 7nm 64-bit octa-core CPU (not sure who made it) w/ 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, fingerprint reader on the side, stereo speakers tuned by AKG, and a 4380 mAh battery capable of fast wired/wireless charging + PowerShare.
As far as shooters, you got 6 here like on the S10 5G. There’s on the front cover that’s a f/2.2 10MP, a dual camera inside that’s a f/2.2 10MP + f/1.9 8MP RGB Depth sensor, and 3 on the rear that’s a f/1.5-f/2.4 12MP Dual Pixel AF + OIS, f/2.2 16MP ultra-wide, & f/2.4 telephoto + OIS.
So w/ the Galaxy Fold, you’ll be able to multitask up to 3 apps at a time, use apps that transitions from phone & tablet mode, and use the same app in phone mode to tablet mode seamlessly. Sounds good but not still doesn’t sound worth the price point but that’s just me.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold will go on sale in a few short months on April 26th. AT&T and T-Mobile are the select carriers to sell it here in the US. It will start at a whopping $1,980 though. Yeah, that’s insane. Even crazier is that there will be an LTE & a 5G version of the Fold.
This is quite the expensive proof of concept. Don’t you think so?
