Even though December is quite some time away, it will be here before you know it.  Until then, Microsoft dropped some more details on their upcoming next-gen console: the Xbox Series X.

  • The new Xbox will be powered by AMD’s latest Zen 2 & RDNA 2 architecture w/ aGPU that can run up to 12 teraflops (2x the power of an Xbox One X and 8x that of the OG Xbox).  You’ll also get hardware-accelerated DirectX Raytracing which will be a console 1st for more realistic environments.
  • Smart Delivery feature adds the ability to make it so that all Xbox One & Xbox 360 games will be playable – even the OG Xbox games.  This will allow for the most optimized version of the title.  This will be exclusive to all 1st-party games including the upcoming Halo Infinite.
  • Quick Resume feature that allows you to pick up exactly where you left off across multiple titles w/o having to wait for long load screens and such.
  • New next-gen SSD storage for even faster load times.
  • Support for up to 120fps for crazy refresh rates for even faster gaming experience.
  • Support for HDMI2.1 which adds auto low-latency mode and variable refresh rates.
  • Even low latency from the controller to the console thanks to a new DLI (Dynamic Latency Input) protocol.

All of this as well as support for 4 generations of Xbox games and accessories.  Like you may have guesses Xbox Game Pass will still be at the forefront of gaming for Microsoft.  Not bad, Microsoft, not bad.

So we know what it looks like, we know it will be powerful but now we have a better idea on exactly how much so.  I am definitely gonna try to pick one up when it launches.  How about you?
