Earlier this morning, MKBHD interviewed OnePlus CEO Carl Pei on his YouTube channel as they revealed a clear look at their upcoming 5G budget device: the OnePlus Nord. So no more blurry images as we get to see the phone in its full glory – front + back of it.
During the interview, they show off prototypes as we get to see a little bit on where they started and how they landed on the final design for the Nord. The design is what you would expect w/ large display in front w/ a dual selfie camera setup, still retain s the alert slider which is on the right side along w/ the Power button, and the bottom shows off USB-C port, speaker, & SIM tray. During the interview, Carl Pei was teasing their upcoming AirPod-like earbuds which are supposed to be announced w/ them as well.
As far as what to expect in regards to specs, the Nord is a 6.5inch 1080p 90Hz refresh display, Snapdragon 765 5G CPU, up to 12GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, and a 4000 mAh battery w/ 30W fast-charging. The Nord event kicks off on 3PM BST / 10AM EST / 7AM PST on the 21st. It will cost under $500 and will launch in Europe & India at first and coming to other markets after.
