So after the leaks and everything, the new iPhones are here. Starting off w/ the standard lineup: the iPhone 12. We got versions of it w/ the smaller iPhone 12 mini & the iPhone 12. Outside of the screen sizes & battery life, share the same specs but at a different price point.
Think last year’s iPhones w/ the 5G, better displays, & the iPhone 4 design influence.
The new iPhones offer an aluminum design giving it rails and reminding us of the iPhone 4 design but in an iPhone 11 body-style. Also has a ceramic shield underneath the display to better hold up from drops. Both offer Apple’s Super Retina XDR panels that are OLED HDR displays. The mini offers a 5.4inch panel w/ 2340 x 1080 resolution while the 6.1inch panels offers a 2532 x 1170 resolution.
Both are powered by Apple’s latest A14 Bionic CPU, both have an IP68 dust/water-resistant body, and arrives in 64GB/128GB/256GB storage options, supports both versions of 5G (sub-6GHz + mmWave) and faster LTE speeds up to 2Gbps as well. They brought back MagSafe to use w/ accessories as well as their new charging solution up to 15W. And speaking of their batteries, Apple gives the mini up to 15 hours of juice & the regular 12 up to 17 hours of juice via video playback. You can fast charge up to 50% of juice in 30 minutes but the 20W adapter will no longer come in the packaging.
On the camera side of things, you got a dual 12MP camera layout consisting of a wide + ultra-wide sensors. You got a f/1.6 12MP for the Wide and a f/2.4 12MP for the Ultra-wide capable of 2x optical zoom as well. On the video side of things, you can shoot HDR video w/ Dolby Vision up to 30fps while retaining the 4K +1080p up to 60fps, OIS, and slow motion in 1080p up to 240fps.
Both sizes will arrive in Black, White, (PRODUCT)RED , Green, or Blue color options starting at $699 for the mini & $799 for the 12. Pre-orders for the iPhone 12 kicks off this Friday, October 16th while the iPhone 12 Mini pre-orders kick off a bit later on November 16th.
