Earlier today, DJI made their 1st FPV (First Person Drone) drone official as it is called the DJI FPV. It was heavily-leaked before today as it is now official. This will offer the high-speed of racing drones w/ the cinematic quality that DJI is known for.
The FPV utilizes their OcuSync 3.0 for lower latency for better reaction times when flying/racing. You got obstacle detection sensors that automatically slows down and allows you move from any upcoming obstacles. For takeoffs/landings, they added VPS or Visual Positioning Sensors w/ an auxiliary light to offer a return home failsafe feature in case you lose the transmission signal. It will even let you know of any nearby planes or helicopters if they’re using ADS-B transmitters. There’s a new Emergency Brake & Hover feature that utilizes GPS-based geofencing to prevent the drone from flying near airports.
The FPV can record up to 4K@60fps as it uses EIS via their Rocksteady stabilization as well as 1080p @120fps slow motion in either H.265 or H.264. There is a standard low-latency HD mode that records at 1440×810 resolution in 60fps, a smooth mode w/ a 1440×810 resolution @120fps, and an audience mode that allows you to share the connection w/ up to 8 extra goggles so other can view the flight.
DJI used new motors here that can give you up to 87MPH and can go 0-62MPH in just 2 seconds. It has a normal mode that similar to other DJI drones that will use GPS or VPS to fly & avoid things, a manual mode that is for more experienced pilots where sensors + hovering features are disabled, and a sport mode that is a hybrid of the other 2 modes.
The DJI FPV is out now for $1,299. The Combo Kit comes w/ the drone, remote controller 2, FPV Goggles V2, cables, & one battery for $1,299. While the Fly More Kit is an accessories package that offers 2 additional Intelligent Flight Batteries and a dedicated charging hub for an extra $299 as you can add it to your Combo Kit. There’s even an optional Motion Controller that will cost you $199.
