So this has been an interesting week for the Nothing brand to say the least. Especially w/ their upcoming launch for the Nothing Phone (1). MKBHD dropped a new hands-on showing off some its unique gimmicks features. You got a near 7-minute giving us a good look and something to talk about it.
So outside of the device takes some minor design queues from the iPhone w/ rounded corners and a metal bar but outside of that, it resembles the Nothing earbuds w/ a transparent look. Where we can see the camera housing, Qi wireless charging pad, screws, and LED lights. Yes, lights. Nothing calls its the ‘Glyph Interface’ that the lights are programmed to light up for notifications & incoming calls. You can also use the lights as a fill light for the camera.
And on the downside, the folks over at PCMag reported that it won’t be arriving in the US or Canada. We’re not sure if this will change after a limited time and then slowly start making its way to this side of the pond. Nothing stated that they want to focus on the home markets which includes UK & Europe. But for you brave souls who wish to import one over here, you’re gonna have some issues. You’ll have zero support for VoLTE on AT&T, ‘unpredictable’ coverage on T-Mo and nothing at all on Verizon.
So this will give us time on this side for them to work out their kinks & software bugs. But that is if it actually makes it to the US & Canada. Time will tell at this point or all will be revealed at the launch event next month.
