Today was Apple’s new iPhone 17 event, and they unveiled their Pixel-like new iPhone hardware and software features along with it. And speaking of software, iOS 26 will soon exit public beta and be rolled out to all supported iPhones and iPads. Another software update means another list of devices that will lose support and age out of being up-to-date with the latest security, apps, and Apple’s protocols. We have the entire list of supported and unsupported Apple hardware below.

New, new-ish, and slightly-older iPhones that will support iOS 26:

iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max, iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and the iPhone 16e. This means iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and older models miss out on the latest software update. And only iPhones from the 15 Pro and newer have enough power to run Apple Intelligence and its features.

As far as iPads are concerned, these models will get the iPadOS 26 update:

iPad Pro (M4), iPad Pro 12.9‑inch (3rd generation and later), iPad Pro 11‑inch (1st generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later, including M2 and M3), iPad (8th generation and later, including A16), and the iPad mini (5th generation and later, including A17 Pro). Any older iPads will miss out.

In case you’re wondering what you might potentially be missing out on other than the controversial Liquid Glass visual update, there is a redesigned Camera app, a new Phone app with new Call Screening and Hold Assist features, Apple Intelligence adds Live Translation via phone and messages, additional lockscreen options, and an array of enhancements and updates across Apple’s native apps.

Apple will begin rolling out iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 next week. So, whether you plan on buying the latest iPhone 17 series or your model has aged out and you’re looking for a refurbished, new-ish model, like, say, an iPhone 14, you have options from affordable to expensive to take advantage of the latest Apple software.
