You may or may not be familiar with the Afeela 1 from Honda and Sony, a $90,000 EV capable of 300 miles of range, which works with Tesla’s superchargers and is filled with many screens and much tech. It was recently updated at CES last year. For CES 2026, we have a new vehicle being shown off with the Afeela Prototype, which is currently aiming for a US launch of a production model (based on this prototype) to arrive sometime in early 2028.

At a glance, it appears to be identical to the Afeela 1 in many ways but is more of an SUV-like design—kind of like how Tesla’s Model Y is an SUV variant of the Model 3. Despite its similar appearance, the new Afeela Prototype is mildly larger than the Afeela 1 in size. Actual details and specs are damn-near zero; other than that, it will share many of the features from the Afeela 1. Which would include newer features, such as eventual Level-4 autonomous driving powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis, custom themes to share across the many interior screens, built-in Remote Play to stream PlayStation games onto the vehicle’s displays, and the company’s custom conversation AI branded Afeela Personal Agent.

Also, Sony Honda Mobile announced that the Afeela 1 is finally ready to enter production. So those of you who reserved one should actually get it. The matter of exactly when isn’t set in stone; however, the company is aiming for late 2026 for deliveries for those in California and the top of 2027 for Arizona and limited sales in Japan.
