After teasing online, Nothing has revealed its newest mid-range Android phones: the Phone 4a Pro and the 4a. While the 4a is more in line with what you’d expect, the company is attempting a different approach with the 4a Pro.
Both phones are powered by Qualcomm’s slightly less-powerful Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip, up to 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 5,080 mAh battery with 50W wired charging; they run Nothing OS 4.1 on top of Android 16, and will get three years of Android updates and six years of security updates.
Let’s start with the Phone 4a. It offers a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with a maximum brightness of 4,500 nits and is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, a tougher, scratch-resistant glass, just like Google’s Pixel 10a. The 4a has an IP64 dust- and water-resistant body, and a new, brighter Glyph Bar is composed of 63 mini-LEDs. It’s also armed with a triple rear camera setup comprised of a 50MP main, a 50MP telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 32MP selfie sensor on the front.
Moving on to the more premium Phone 4a Pro. It swaps out Nothing’s translucent rear for a premium metal unibody design. It retains the Glyph Matrix from the Nothing Phone 3 and is powered by 137 mini-LEDs, and is customizable to display calls, contacts, notifications, games, timers, etc. The 4a Pro has a 6.8-inch 144Hz AMOLED screen with a maximum brightness of 5,000 nits, an IP65 dust and water-resistant body, an optical fingerprint reader, and stereo speakers.
The Nothing 4a retains the company’s translucent design and will arrive in white, pink, black, and blue, and the 4a Pro will arrive in pink, black, and silver, starting at $500. Unfortunately, the 4a isn’t coming to the US, but the 4a Pro is, with pre-orders happening on March 13 and going on sale March 27.
